Politically wrong
Fag in hand, I rambled towards the bus stop in the fogged up weather that is the english mornings . This early morning without the sun thing is not working out very well for me…and it doesn't help that my soft sheets are so nice to sleep in. Dazed in dreamland I suddenly had a very un-PC and completely mad thought that made me chuckle like a mad hatter feeling her way around in the fog-clogged road.
France conquered Vietnam = a lot of Vietnamese migrants who are currently into the second and third generation
England were the colonial lords of India (in bimbo talk;they were really big in India)= a lot of indian migrants into the second and third generation as well. This also applies to Malaysia and Hong Kong…although in smaller numbers
Netherlands were the colonial lords of Indonesia = a lot of indonesian migrants in Netherlands.
America 'took over' Philiphines = a lot of philiphino migrants in the States.Heck, they are everywhere. (Skippy will probably kill me for this totally bimbostic observation)
Then can someone tell me why Australia, who never went to war and essentially started off as a throwaway prison island, have so many people migrating there from all over the world - including the British who first started it off anyway???
Another totally uninformed,unpolitically correct observation from me. Apologies made - it's the weather and the lack of sun driving me mad.

Correction, Australia did fight in wars even though most of the time it wasn't attacked directly. I think you meant Australia never colonise another country?
As for your question about why ppl are coming here: food, weather, beach, easy-going lifestyle? I'm speaking of current times of course because back when it was a prison colony, it wasn't a very nice place to live. ;)
And if you notice, the bulk of the population here are of imperial British stock - not including the Aussies, the biggest proportion of immigrants are from the UK and NZ.
my point exactly - throw the prisoners all in one place, and 100 years, 200 years down the line, migrate en-masse to the prison colony...I know of quite a number of english who are or have migrated to OZ.

I think you summed it up pretty well. However in the case of Indonesia or the Phillippines it comes down to the fact that both places are not so great to live....ergo they are all trying to get the heck out of them. And America has a lot of Filipino's...especially near San Diego and Norfolk.
